With the increasing number of students we are seeing around are
various VA colleges and universities we're also noticing a
rise in
students with disabilities. As you may remember Mason used
to have VA HEAT, an accessible text resource for VA colleges and
universities. However, with recent partnerships such as AccessText the
resource has been outdated. ATI has resurrected VA HEAT but this time
it now stands for VA Higher Education Accessible Technology. With this new VA HEAT program we have begun reaching
out to various colleges and universities around VA discussing AT, best practices, and concerns and solutions for accessibility. In
that we've already spoke with UMW, JMU, and NVCC to name a few.
We would like to begin announcing VA HEAT to other colleges and universities in hopes that we can continue to build working relationships and share knowledge of technology for disabilities.
