Who We Serve
ATI provides a variety of assistive technology and accessibility resources for students, faculty, and staff ensuring equal access to course materials, online university resources, and classroom lectures.
What is Assistive Technology (AT)?
“Any item, piece of equipment, software program, or product system that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of persons with disabilities.” – *Assistive Technology Industry Association
AT is often used by people with disabilities to access computer programs, providing them with an accessible means of using a computer, tablet or other hardware devices. Without the use of AT, it can be impossible for those with disabilities to use computers. However, not all computer programs, websites, software, and applications are accessible to assistive technology or those with disabilities.
Assistive Technology on Campus
ATI has dedicated AT labs on campus. AT software and hardware are available for loan. Check the AT Resources website for more information on software and hardware available at Mason. To learn more about AT, request training on AT, or request an equipment loan, fill out a Request Services Form.
